About Me

Hi, I’m Dr. Resnick!

I’m a licensed psychologist who provides affirming, culturally- and trauma-informed care to children and adults.

Through weekly individual therapy sessions using an integrative and collaborative approach, we can work together to help you understand the ways your experiences, past and present, have shaped the way you think about things and engage with the world; we can also understand how your identity affects the way the world interacts with you.

Why choose to work with me?

Figuring out who you are can be really challenging. Sometimes you feel pressure to fit a complex and fluid identity into a rigid box. Sometimes you do not identify with the norms you are expected to. Sometimes you may feel like you are an impostor in a group that you hope to belong to.

I am passionate about helping people feel listened to and understood in their personal context. My approach to therapy is collaborative and integrative; I use techniques from DBT, CBT, ACT, interpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic therapy to tailor my approach to each individual's needs, strengths, and way of learning. Together we will discuss goals for therapy and work collaboratively to achieve them in the way that works best for you.

I seek to create an experience where you feel validated and understood, one that is as individual as you are.

Therapy is kind of like a good massage. Sometimes you have knots to work out, and it can be painful and take a lot of time, but by doing that work, you can heal.

My Story

As a multiracial and LGBTQIA-identifying psychologist, I understand the challenges associated with navigating one’s identity, on both a professional and personal level. I understand how difficult it can be when others do not view you the same way you see yourself, or to feel like you must push yourself into a box that does not fit. Because of this, I seek to cultivate a space of validation and acceptance where you can feel safe learning about and being yourself.

My training

I am a licensed psychologist in New York. I earned my doctoral degree at Pace University’s School/Clinical Child Psychology program. I completed my dissertation on identity development in multiracial individuals.

My training took place in many institutions across New York, including SUNY Downstate and Maimonides Medical Center. I have worked with adults, adolescents, and children from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I have experience in a multitude of settings, not just in long-term individual therapy clinics, but also psychiatric inpatient settings, psychiatric emergency rooms, college counseling centers, and community mental health centers. Through this training, I have learned to be a very flexible provider; I can tailor my work to a diverse array of problems and populations as appropriate.

I also have years of experience supervising psychologists-in-training at the extern level in both therapy (individual and group) and psychological testing. I love being a part of the development and growth of new providers.
